Stand Alone Capping Machinery

Stand Alone Capping Machinery

While Liquid Packaging Solutions manufactures many different automatic capping machines that become a part of a complete packaging system, stand alone capping machines are also a popular item at LPS.  Stand alone machines range from handheld to tabletop to semi-automatic portable machines that can add not only efficiency, but also consistency and reliability to the capping process.

Just like automatic equipment, stand alone machines can be built to handle many different types of closures, from screw-on type caps to snap on lids and cork or other plug type seals.  Handheld equipment works well for screw on type caps where consistency can be an issue.  Hand tightening caps can lead to some loose seals, some overtightened seals and some just right.  Handheld chuck capping machines can remove that inconsistency to ensure that each container is sealed tightly, while also avoiding fatigue and repetitive motion injuries that can result from completing the chore by hand.

Tabletop cappers work well when space is limited or where production demands range from low to medium.  Regardless of the type of closure being used, tabletop machines will work in pretty much the same manner.  The operator of the machine will place the closure on the package and then move the combination of container and closure into the capping area.  From there, the chuck, spindles, snapper, crimper or other capping assembly will complete the seal.  The operator then removes the sealed container from the machine to move to the next packaging or packing phase.  While tabletop machinery often works as a stand alone capping or sealing system, these units can also be used with tabletop fillers, labelers and other equipment to complete a tabletop packaging system or a uniframe system.

Portable capping equipment can also work as stand alone capping systems, including portable equipment built on the same frame as automatic capping machines.  These systems may use a slide track, or even a power conveyor, to allow for movement through the machinery.  Like tabletop machines, operators will be responsible for placing the closure on the container before the combination move through the capping area.  In addition to portability, these machines can be set up to transfer containers and caps quickly through the use of the conveyor, which can increase speed as well.  Finally, semi-automatic equipment built on the same frame as the automatic equipment allows for fairly simple upgrades in the future.  This means as production grows, the capping equipment can be modified to run automatically, eventually even allowing for integration into a complete line, extending the useful life of the packaging equipment as a whole.

For companies that want to add consistency and reliability to their capping process, stand alone capping machines not only offer a great solution for the present, but can be manufactured to allow the packager to plan for the future.  For more information on capping machines, visit the Capping and Sealing section of our website, or give LPS a call to speak with a Packaging Specialist today.
