Why We Customize: Packaging Equipment Is Not One-Size-Fits-All

At Liquid Packaging Solutions, we build filling machines, bottle cappers, conveyors, and other packaging equipment. Clicking through our website will allow a packager to see different types of liquid fillers, including those that fill by level or by volume. Capping machines on the site will show equipment for screw-on closures, corks, ROPP caps, and more. However, none of this packaging equipment would go directly to packagers exactly as seen on the webpage, because to be efficient, reliable, and consistent for each and every business, packaging equipment simply cannot be one-size-fits-all! At LPS, we customize each machine or line to maximize performance in each specific real-world environment.

Liquid Products Have Different Characteristics

One of the main reasons for customization of liquid filling machines stems from the simple fact that there are so many different liquids in our world! Liquids not only vary in viscosity, but some foam while others do not, some need to be heated in order to flow, while others may include particulates or suspended solids. Using a filling machine that has not been designed and manufactured for the specific products can lead to inconsistent fills, product waste, slower production speeds, extended downtime, and extended changeover times, among other issues. By customizing the filler, LPS ensures the filling method, components, and controls are engineered for the product rather than forcing the product to adapt to the machine.

Bottles and Closures Call for Modification

Of course, the liquid product is not the only thing that will vary from one packaging project to another. Containers, bottle closures and other components can differ not only across projects, but within the same project as well. Variables such as container shape, size, and material, as well as closure and label type, can all influence the performance of the equipment. Customizing packaging systems to meet the needs of the project ensures the machine or system can handle all unique containers, any caps or closures, label application orientation, stability, and other factors that can reduce downtime, simplify changeover, and maximize efficiency.

Production Floors are Not All Identical

The production floor for any given project will change from business to business. The space available, operators available, operator experience, and environmental conditions can all affect the design of packaging machinery. Standard, or off-the-shelf, packaging equipment would not allow for unique line layouts, washdown requirements, or even integrations with other packaging equipment. Custom packaging machinery allows for a packaging machine or even a packaging line that works for your facility to heighten efficiency and productivity.

In addition to the benefits noted above, customized packaging equipment allows greater flexibility when planning for future growth. LPS equipment is designed and manufactured wherever possible with a focus not only on current production needs, but a design that will allow for expansion and an increase in production as the company gets new contracts, adds new products, or simply gains popularity. Designing with growth in mind protects capital investments already made and helps foster growth without requiring all new equipment.

At LPS, every packaging project starts with an understanding of your products, containers, caps, and goals for now and the future. Whether you need a single machine or a complete packaging line, LPS engineers will design solutions to specifically meet your needs.
