Does Liquid Packaging Solutions Manufacture a Candle Filling Machine?

This is a question that we get quite a bit here at Liquid Packaging Solutions, and the simple answer is yes, we do manufacture a liquid filling machine for candles. While some people may already be familiar with a filling machine built for molten products, others are undoubtedly thinking that candles are not liquids. In their finished state, candles are not a liquid, but if you think about how a candle is used, you will also get an idea of how a filling machine can prepare candles.

When candles burn, they melt, turning the candle wax into a liquid. To get wax into jars or other containers, filling machines use a process that moves the product while in a liquid state, filling the jars or other containers, and then continuing the packaging process after the liquid has returned to its solid state. A molten filler will typically include a heated tank that will keep the product at a temperature high enough that it will remain in a liquid form and at a consistent viscosity. As bottles move in place under the fill heads, the PLC will call for the heated product in the tank to be released. To keep the product in a liquid state until it reaches the jars, heating elements will be used on not just the tank, but the tubing, fill nozzles, and the entire product pathway. This keeps the molten candle wax at a higher, and consistent, temperature to avoid clogging at any point on the path from the tank to the containers.

Automatic candle filling machines help to increase the efficiency of a filling line in a number of different ways. Of course, turning a solid into a liquid makes the filling process a simple and efficient process, but the molten filler can also use multiple fill heads - typically up to 12 - to increase the speed of the line. The addition of Clean-In-Place (CIP) system and a Recipe system help to minimize downtime for clean-up and changeover, respectively.
While the automatic candle filler can work as a stand-alone machine, it is more likely to be a part of a complete packaging system for candles, which would likely include a rinsing machine, the molten filler, a cooling conveyor to let the wax solidify, and a labeler, with capping equipment also available for candles with closures or lids.

Whether you are looking for a candle filling machine or liquid packaging equipment for other molten products like lipstick, balms, salves, and more, LPS can help find, design, and build the perfect solution for your own packaging needs.
