Filling Machine Troubleshooting - Manual Toggle Screen

Filling machines, like most automated packaging equipment, are made up of different components. These components allow for the filling of bottles in a consistent and reliable manner based on the product, containers and the principle of the machine, be it a level fill, volumetric fill or some other principle. However, even on automated bottle fillers, there are some tasks and times when an operator will want to control certain components of the machine. Using a touchscreen operator interface, the Manual Toggle Screen found on almost all automatic fillers gives the operator this ability.

The Manual Toggle Screen can be reached from the Main Menu of the Operator Interface on almost all automatic filling machinery from Liquid Packaging Solutions. Once open, this screen will allow the operator to take manual control of components such as the filler conveyor, indexing systems, fill heads, pumps and more. While this screen will not come into play while the liquid filler is running production, it can save operators time and businesses money when performing certain tasks on the machine.

For instance, when cleaning the machine or performing routine maintenance, the Manual Toggle Screen allows access to the components at the touch of a button. In addition to the features that can be controlled above, operators can extend or detract drip trays and bottle locators for better access to the machine. Even in setting up a bottle, the manual toggle can assist by allowing indexing pins to be extended or retracted, fill heads to be placed in the dive position or in the retract position and many other component settings that make changeover or new bottle set up a little easier on the operator of the machine.

When running production, in most cases the operator will want to ensure that the settings on the Manual Toggle Screen are all set to "Auto", with certain exceptions for components such as tank drains. The screens found on the Manual Toggle will differ depending on the type of filling machine being used and the components in use on that machine. However, each machine will include the controls for the components found on the given machine, making each filling machine a custom fit for the packager, products and project.
