Liquid Fillers and Capping Machines for Cleaners and Chemicals

Liquid Fillers and Capping Machines for Industrial Cleaners and Chemicals

Industrial cleaners and chemicals can present unique challenges for a packaging line.  First and foremost, many of these cleaners and chemicals may be corrosive in nature, rendering the standard stainless steel construction of packaging machines nearly useless.  Other cleaners and chemicals may emit fumes that can be harmful if not handled correctly by the packaging system.  Finally, some of the products may include grit to assist in a cleaning process, presenting challenges for the filling machine.  While the filling and capping principles will remain standard for these products, the packaging machines themselves may be modified slightly to package these products consistently, efficiently and safely.

LIQUID FILLERS

Though not all industrial cleaners and chemicals are corrosive, those that are will normally require a change in the construction material of liquid fillers.  While stainless steel is normally an ideal material for the construction of filling machines, packaging corrosive products can shorten the life of packaging equipment so constructed.  Drips, spills and sometimes even the facility atmosphere can have a damaging effect on stainless steel packaging machines.  For these situations, HDPE filling equipment can be manufactured by Liquid Packaging Solutions, Inc.  The HDPE filling machines will also be served by HDPE conveyor systems, allowing for the packaging of corrosive products without the worry of excessive damage to the packaging machinery.

The corrosion resistant filling equipment can also use several different filling principles, depending on the viscosity of the product being filled.  Overflow fillers and gravity filling machines can be used to fill thin to medium viscosity, free-flowing liquids.  Thicker products may require a pump or piston filling machine.  These liquid fillers can also be ideal for products that contain grit or other particulates to assist in cleaning.

Finally, if a product is flammable or emits fumes into the atmosphere during the packaging process, hazardous location and explosion proof construction of filling machines is a necessity.  Again, though not all cleaners and chemicals are flammable or emit such fumes, this is a feature seen more often on filling equipment in the cleaners and chemicals industry.

CAPPING MACHINES

As with any product, the capping machine used to seal industrial cleaners and chemicals will depend on the type of cap used as well as the production rate required.  One of the most popular capping machines in the industry is the automatic spindle capper.  This capping machine allows for continuous capping of bottles on an automatic packaging line.  Normally constructed of stainless steel, the spindle capper also allows for hazardous location construction for those cleaners and chemicals that require such precautions.  If a product does emit fumes during the packaging process, a fume extractor can be added to the spindle capper to remove harmful vapors.

Of course, semi-automatic machinery is also available to package these products.  Chuck cappers and spindle capping machines can be manufactured as semi-automatic portable or tabletop capping machinery.  Chuck cappers are even available in handheld manual models for those facilities with lower production rates.
