Liquid Fillers for Cleaners and Chemicals

LIQUID FILLERS FOR CLEANERS AND CHEMICALS

Liquid fillers manufactured for cleaners and chemicals will use the same filling principles used for almost any other products.  The most popular filling machines for these types of products will probably be overflow fillers and gravity fillers.  However, both pump and piston filling machines may also be used for unique products in this industry that are thicker and do not flow as freely as most cleaners and chemicals.  In addition, some harsh chemicals will require liquid fillers that are corrosion resistant to protect the packaging process and prolong the life of the packaging machinery.

OVERFLOW FILLER

The overflow filler is a great liquid filler for free flowing cleaners and chemicals that have a tendency to foam.  The unique nozzles that allow recirculation of the product also control foam and ensure that each container is filled to a specific level.  The fill level is an added advantage for products that are packaged in clear containers, like window cleaners, as the consistent fills allow for a strong, aesthetically pleasing shelf presence.  Overflow fillers can be manufactured as semi-automatic or automatic packaging machines, allowing these liquid fillers to work for any level of production.

GRAVITY FILLER

A gravity filler is also an ideal filling machine for free flowing products. These economic fillers provide a time based fill from an elevated tank.  Generally, once containers are in place, the fill tubes or nozzles are opened to allow the release of the product for a pre-set amount of time.  Gravity filling machines can also be manufactured to perform bottom up fills and control foaming through the use of special nozzles or accessories.  Like the overflow fillers, gravity filling machines can be manufactured as semi-automatic or automatic liquid fillers to handle a wide range of production demands.

PISTON OR PUMP FILLER

Piston fillers and pump fillers may also be used when packaging cleaners and chemicals.  These filling machines will be used more often for viscous products such as soaps or some bath cleaners.  Piston filling machines offer an accurate, repeatable volume based fill.  In general, the piston retracts to allow product into the cylinder of the liquid filler.  Once retracted, the piston returns to the cylinder, pushing the product into the waiting containers.  Pump fillers can handle a wide range of product viscosities due to the different pumps that are available for use on liquid fillers.  Each product will be matched to a pump type that will provide the necessary fill, and each fill head will use its own pump.  Peristaltic pump fillers also allow for the added advantage of keeping products pure and the packaging process sanitary, which may be necessary when dealing with certain chemicals.

CORROSION RESISTANT FILLERS

A majority of liquid fillers are manufactured using stainless steel frames, fill heads and components.  However, some harsh chemicals can have a negative effect on stainless steel.  Corrosion resistant filling machines will use some of the same filling principles noted above, but rather than stainless steel, HDPE will be used for the construction of the liquid fillers.  Corrosion resistant filling machines allow acids, bleaches and other chemicals to be packaged efficiently without undue wear and tear on the packaging equipment itself.
