Simple Adjustment of Belts and Disks on the Automatic Spindle Capping Machine
The way the automatic spindle cappers works, there are certain adjustments that will need to be made for different bottles and caps. Of course, the quicker these adjustments can be made, the more efficient the capping process becomes. This is why Liquid Packaging Solutions puts emphasis on the ease of making adjustments when manufacturing these bottle cappers.
Automatic spindle cappers are built to continuously tighten screw-on type closures as the bottle and cap move down a power conveyor system. As the bottle enters the capping area it will receive a closure from a chute supplied by a cap delivery system. The bottle will be stabilized throughout the capping process using gripper belts. In order to provide support, the gripper belts must be properly positioned to contact the bottle without squeezing the bottle or hindering the movement.
The cap is tightened down on to the container with matched sets of gripper disks that will spin as they come in contact with the closure. Each set will spin the cap over the threads until a tight seal is achieved. Typically, three or four sets of disks will be used to achieve a consistent and reliable seal. The disks must also be properly positioned to contact the cap at the right spot to achieve this seal. As bottle size and shape change, so must the contact points for both the support belts and the tightening disks. All adjustments to the belts and disks can be made with simple controls found on the face of the automatic spindle capper.
Gripper belts are easily adjustable using two sets of hand cranks, one for raising or lowering the belts and the other for moving them in and out. Placing a bottle in the capping area will allow an operator of the bottle capper to adjust the belts by simply turning the designated hand crank until the belts are in position. With new bottles, this may take some trial and error, but as a general rule the gripper belts should contact the bottles at a height to provide support and protect against tipping, but without squeezing the containers or restricting movement.
To adjust the tightening disks in and out to accommodate different cap widths, the operator can simply use the knobs found on the capper face as well. Each disk will be individually controlled by its' own knob and locking lever. Releasing the locking lever on any knob allows the operator to simply turn the knob left or right to move the tightening disk in or out. Once in position, the lever should be re-locked to avoid unwanted movement of the disk. Adjusting the height of the disks simply entails using the power height switch found on the capper control panel. The power height switch adjusts the entire spindle capper housing up and down, by turning the switch left or right, which in effect adjusts the height of the spindle disks.
The automatic spindle capper is an ideal solution for tightening many different versions of threaded, or screw-on type, caps. Continuous capping without the need to stop and go, along with the ease of adjustment for different bottle and cap types, makes this capping machine an efficient choice for many different projects.
